1, 2, 3 for the Al Shaqab Racing homebreds!
It was a fruitful weekend and beginning of the week for the Al Shaqab Racing colours in France. Our representatives, who were also all bred at Haras de Bouquetot, netted three victories. First off the mark this weekend was AL MASHRAB, who is by our native stallion STYLE VENDOME and out of the useful CANDICANS, a daughter of Dansili who has already produced a Stakes performer for the Al Shaqab Racing colours in LAYALI. This win, on Saturday at Toulouse in the Prix de Montolieu, was the third of his young career. Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, he won by over a length in front of useful Gr.3 winner Rimini.
On Sunday, it was the turn of the very promising EXCELLENCY. This daughter of Sea The Stars stood out from the crowd at Saint-Cloud in the Prix Calandria, a competitive maiden that often produces smart winners. EXCELLENCY was making her seasonal bow, after several months off, having had just the one run as a 2-year-old in July. She is trained by Henri-François Devin and has a blue-ribbon pedigree. Her dam TWYLA THARP is a daughter of Sadlers' Wells, and performed at Group level herself. She is also the dam of the four-time Gr.1 winning champion The Fugue. TWYLA THARP also has a yearling by SHALAA, who has his first yearlings this year.

Last but not least, on Monday at Marseille the 3-year-old filly GHARABEEL, a daughter of TORONADO, backed up her winning debut with an easy victory in the Prix Daniel Vergez (Class 2). This François Rohaut-trained filly was having her first run over this course and distance; over 2,000m and on the fibresand. She comes from a smart Aga Khan maternal pedigree, and her dam is the sister to Moumara, winner of the Prix de Royallieu Gr.2.
