Shalaa Scores Top Results at Foal Sales

The first progeny of SHALAA to enter the sales ring as foals have been warmly received by a wide range of buyers and pinhookers over the last few weeks. Finishing the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, SHALAA was leading Freshman sire of weanlings with 11 lots selling for an average of 97,545 gns, which represents over €115,000.

The top lot of the week by SHALAA was lot 1074, a March born colt out of Summer Collection. Consigned by Petches Farm, the property of a partnership, the colt went the way of Laurent Benoit, of Broadhurst Agency for 240,000 Gns. Summer Collection comes from the family of Spinning World, Champion Older Miler in Europe.

Lot 916, a bay colt first foal out of French Listed winner Besotted from Knocktoran Stud sold to McKeever Bloodstock for 185,000 Gns.

It wasn't just the colts that proved immensely popular in the ring, Lot 728 from Newsells Park Stud, a bay filly out of Listed performer Full Mandate realised 160,000 Gns selling to Al Shaqab Racing. Benoit Jeffroy bought the daughter of SHALAA and remarked "It is great to see that SHALAA is really stamping his stock, with strong bodied individuals."

Other notable judges who signed for progeny at the Foal Sale included Yeomanstown Stud, TIna Rau, Blandford Bloodstock, BBA Ireland, Abbeylands Stud and Horse Park Stud. 

Earlier at Goffs, Ireland Howson & Houldsworth Bloodstock paid €125,000 for a colt out of Hat from Ballintry Stud, and Woodtown House Stud paid €90,000 for a filly out of Holy Freud from Tinnakill House.
