Toronado to Stand at Haras de Bouquetot in 2018

August 8, 2017

Dual Group 1-winner TORONADO, who has been standing for his first three seasons at The National
Stud, England, is set to join the exciting ranks of the Haras de Bouquetot roster, alongside Champion
2-year-old SHALAA, 4-times Group 1 winner OLYMPIC GLORY, Classic winner STYLE
VENDOME and multi-millionaire Group 1 winner PLANTEUR.

A son of High Chaparral out of the Grand Slam mare Wana Doo, TORONADO remained undefeated
in 3 runs at 2 in his juvenile career culminating with victory in the Champagne Stakes Gr.2. He then
scored at the highest level at both 3 and 4, landing the Sussex Stakes Gr.1 at Goodwood and the
Queen Anne Stakes Gr.1 during Royal Ascot, achieving a Timeform rating of 131 to become the
highest rated miler in Europe in 2015.

Strongly supported at stud by both Al Shaqab Racing's private broodmare band, as well as top class
European breeders, TORONADO will see his eagerly-awaited first crop of yearlings go through the
ring in the upcoming months. His first crop of foals were positively received in both hemispheres, with
sales prices reaching 190,000gns, 145,000gns, 120,000gns, $AUS 140,000, €90,000 in Europe etc.

Ben Sangster, Chairman of the National Stud, commented:
“It has been a pleasure for the Jockey club to have stood and facilitated TORONADO for Al
Shaqab Racing at The National Stud. The horse has covered 365 quality mares during the
three years that he has stood with us, which will have given him a great chance to succeed
and fulfil his tremendous potential as a high class stallion. Now the horse will return to his
owners stud in France after serving his third Southern hemisphere season at Swettenham
stud.”

Benoit Jeffroy, Haras de Bouquetot's Stud Manager, commented:
“We are delighted to receive such a high-profile stallion as TORONADO here at Bouquetot.
Al Shaqab Racing have bred some outstanding foals and yearlings by him here at the farm,
including out of Group/Grade 1 mares such as Zagora, Strawberrydaiquirri, Shotgun Gulch,
Scarlet Strike, Eden's Moon, etc. In 2017 we supported him with 25 of Al Shaqab's private
mares. There is little doubt that he will make an impact at the Yearling Sales starting next
week, and we are excited that he will be made available to the French breeders the same
year as his first two-year-olds are going to hit the track.”

The 2018 stud fee for TORONADO will be announced at a later stage.
