A whirlwind start for Toronado
TORONADO, who is currently one of Europe’s top ten leading 2nd crop sires, has already sired six 3-year-old winners in 2019. The has been some impressive performances among them. At Bordeaux on the 2nd March, GHARABEEL (pictured) ran out the winner in a smart style for his turf debut. On the 27th February, ARROW broke his maiden at Lyon by two lengths, in front of a more experienced field. COME BACK opened his scorecard in January, and recently finished a close second in a Class 2. Across the Channel, YOLO AGAIN won over 1000m, his third career win.
A sixth Stakes performance coming soon…
This exciting young stallion already sired five Stakes performers in 2018 from his first crop: Revelstoke (3rd in the Premio Gran Criterium Gr2), Watan (2nd in the Tattersalls Acomb Stakes Gr3), Almufti (3rd in the Molson Horris Hill Stakes Gr3), El Ingrato (2nd in the Criterium de l'Ouest LR) and Baylagan (3rd in the Criterium du Bequet LR). He could soon have his sixth Stakes success. TUNED runs this Sunday in the Prix Rose de Mai LR at Saint Cloud. She won on her debut last October in Deauville, and her trainer, Jean-Claude Rouget, commented recently: « She’s a filly with a nice future, although she lacks experience. She could have run again at 2, but I preferred to take me time with her ».
