TORONADO hails from the Sadler’s Wells line. His sire, High Chaparral, is a particularly good match with the Danzig bloodlines, especially through Green Desert, having produced the Gr.1 winner Wrote as well as the Gr.1 Fillies’ Mile runner up Lady Darshaan. High Chaparral has also produced two Gr.2 winners when crossed with daughters of Cape Cross, a son of Green Desert.
One should not forget Danzig’s Danehill line, which has produced numerous Gr.1 winners when mated to sons and grandsons of Sadler’s Wells. In addition, High Chaparral is a proven match to daughters of the Nijinsky line, in particular with the dual hemisphere champion So You Think, but also with the Surumu line which produced 2014 Gr.1 Prix du Cadran winner High Jinx, as well as mares hailing from the Nureyev line, with dual Gr.1 scorer Wigmore Hall being a perfect example.
On the maternal side, the damsire of TORONADO is Grand Slam, a son of Gone West and grandson of Mr Prospector. Gone West has been well represented in Europe by his sons Zafonic and Zamindar, the latter being Kingman’s damsire. The dam of TORONADO, Wana Doo, is a sister to Casamento (Shamardal), which leads to believe that TORONADO would be an interesting match to mares from the Storm Cat bloodline.
