WISE APPROACH, a two-year-old colt trained by Charlie Appleby, opened his black-type account in style this weekend with a commanding victory in a Listed race at Newbury. Ridden by William Buick, the Godolphin representative bred by Tally-Ho Stud was making his fourth career start. Held up in rear for most of the race, he was asked to quicken just over a furlong out, showing an impressive turn of foot to take command and pull clear in the final 100 yards.

AFJAN, a homebred colt by Al Shaqab Racing, ran a strong second in the Listed Prix Yacowlef (1,000m) at Deauville. Trained by Henri-François Devin and ridden by Faleh Nasser Bughanaim, the son of Mehmas was making just his third start in two months. Eased back after a smart break, he settled at the rear before launching a promising move in the final 600 metres and finished strongly down the centre of the track.

Four two-year-olds also broke their maidens this month:

INDY B, a two-year-old filly trained by Archie Watson, landed her maiden win in determined fashion over the weekend. Ridden by William Cox in the colours of Athena Thoroughbred Racing and bred by the French Rose Syndicate, she raced up with the leaders before making her move over two furlongs out. She battled hard in the closing stages to get her head in front in the final strides, sharing victory with Distant Shore.

ROCHFORTBRIDGE made the perfect start to his career on 21 July at Ayr, winning first time out in the Racingtv.com/freetrial EBF Maiden Stakes. Trained by Adrian Paul Keatley and ridden by Connor Beasley, the two-year-old colt tracked the pace on the outer before hitting the front just over a furlong out. He responded well to pressure to repel a late challenge and score gamely. Bred by Tally-Ho Stud, he runs in the colours of J. Fyffe, S. Fyffe & Partners.

ROGUE TEMPTATION impressed at Haydock on 18 July, landing the Rowland Homes Sprint EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes in good style. Ridden by Jack Doughty for trainer Edward Bethell and racing for The Rogues Gallery, she was bred by Tally-Ho Stud. Settled in rear, she quickened smartly in the straight to take the lead and win going away by around 1½ lengths.

PEEL PARK, a two-year-old colt by Mehmas, broke his maiden at Yarmouth with a confident performance. Trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Ryan Moore, he took command in the closing stages and stretched clear to score with authority. Bred by Tally-Ho Stud and running for Mr Paul Smith, he got off the mark on his third career outing.

Congratulations to all their connections!
