Galileo Gold to relocate to Haras de Bouquetot, France in 2023

Al Shaqab Racing’s dual Group 1 and Classic winner GALILEO GOLD, who stood his first

five seasons at co-owners’ Tally Ho Stud i

n Ireland, is due to relocate to France for the 2023

breeding season in a joint venture with Ta

lly-Ho Stud.

A dual Group 1 first crop Sire in 2021, GALILEO GOLD has already made a strong

impression at stud with the likes of 2-year-old Group 1 Phoenix Stakes hero EBRO RIVER

as well as Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac Gr.1-placed OSCULA, also a multiple Group winner at

2 and 3 years old who most recently took the Oak Tree Stakes Gr.3 at Goodwood and the

Prix de Lieurey Gr.3 during Deauville’s summer meet.

Boasting a record of 40% winners to runners in 2022 and 8 Blacktype horses from his first

two crops of racing age, GALILEO GOLD has covered his biggest book of 163 mares to

date at Tally-Ho Stud in 2022.

Trained by Hugo Palmer, GALILEO GOLD proved a sharp juvenile when winning 3 races,

including the Qatar Vintage Stakes Gr.2, and being placed twice in 5 starts at 2. The chestnut

colt became Al Shaqab Racing’s first ever Classic winner landing the 2000 Guineas at

Newmarket on his seasonal return, defeating the two-time European Champion miler

Ribchester. A runner-up in the Irish 2000 Guineas despite unfavorable ground, GALILEO

GOLD bounced back to his best during Royal Ascot to take the St James’s Palace Stakes

Gr.1 from The Gurkha, who reversed the cards on him in the Sussex Stakes Gr.1. He was

then crowned joint top rated 3-year-old colt in Europe.

Haras de Bouquetot’s Stud Manager Benoit Jeffroy comments:

« We’re delighted to be welcoming Group 1 sire GALILEO GOLD in France in a joint

venture with his co-owners Tally-Ho Stud, who have done a fantastic job with giving him the

best chances for his start at stud. GALILEO GOLD has already shown his abilities as a

valuable sire of precocious horses, with over 10% Blacktype horses to runners with his first

crop of 2-year-olds, and with the numbers he’s covered this past year we can only hope for

more to come.

With TORONADO being so successful in Australia, we took the decision to keep him there

and we’re confident that GALILEO GOLD will be as good a value as TORONADO was to

local breeders »

GALILEO GOLD’s standing fee for the 2023 season will be announced at a later date.
