ARMOR added a new Stakes winner to his record this week as ARMOR SUPREME landed the William Hill Irish EBF Juvenile Sprint Stakes (LR) at the Curragh, while two further juvenile winners in France underlined the strength and consistency of his current two-year-old crop.
Already a winner on debut at Goodwood and runner-up in stakes company at York earlier in the season, ARMOR SUPREME stepped up again over five furlongs at the Curragh on Sunday. Sent off favourite under Rossa Ryan, the Diego Dias-trained filly travelled prominently before taking the lead inside the final furlong and drawing clear to score by a comfortable length and a quarter.
Bred by J & F Reilly out of the Arch mare Hayaku, ARMOR SUPREME was also one of two Royal Ascot contenders for her sire this year, and now becomes the latest Stakes performer to emerge from ARMOR’s increasingly productive second crop.
On the other side of the channel at Clairefontaine, QUIET STRENGTH became another new two-year-old winner for ARMOR with success over 1,400 metres. Trained by Mathieu Blancpain for Jean-Michel Lebrun, the filly is out of Angel Baby, by Canford Cliffs, and was bred by Christine Chartier.
Four days later at Deauville, HARMONY IN BLUE made it back-to-back victories with another success over 1,200 metres. The Philippe de Chevigny-trained filly, who had already won at Saint-Cloud in July, confirmed her progression with a second consecutive victory under Cristian Demuro.
Bred by B. Girres, B. Carre Pistollet and X. Stadnitsky Kolendo, HARMONY IN BLUE is out of the Due Diligence mare Linea Blu and has now won twice from four starts.
These latest results further strengthen ARMOR’s exceptional statistics. He is currently the leading second-crop sire in Europe by ratio of Blacktype winners to runners, at 9% across his first two crops. Among this year’s juveniles, his figures are even more remarkable: 11% of his two-year-old runners are already Blacktype horses, giving ARMOR the best ratio of any sire in Europe.
