A September to remember for Armor

September brought success on the racecourse and in the sales ring for ARMOR, whose second crop now boasts ten individual two-year-old winners from just 20 runners — a 50% strike rate — alongside three Blacktype performers, representing 15% of his juvenile runners.

After SHIBUYA opened her account at Salon-de-Provence, LA GALOPAZ and BLACK ARMOR added two further victories to round off a productive month for our Haras de Bouquetot resident.

LA GALOPAZ led home an ARMOR one-two in the Prix d’Amiens at Dieppe on 17 September. Ridden by Hugo Boutin for trainer M. Boutin and owner Patrick Widloecher, she defeated ETOILE D’ARMOR by three-quarters of a length over 1,100 metres.

The filly was winning on her fourth start, following a second-place finish at Chantilly earlier in the month. Bred by P. Decouz and Ecurie des Monnaies, she is out of Notre Sage, by Sageburg.

BLACK ARMOR followed with a decisive success in the Prix Raymond Godinez at Salon-de-Provence on 25 September. Runner-up on debut at Vichy, he went one better on his second appearance, taking the 1,800-metre maiden by three lengths from ZELZAL’s son WOODSTARS.

Ridden by Anthony Crastus for trainer N. Perret in the colours of Bernard Sivadier, the colt was bred by Ecurie de Castillon, SCEA des Prairies, JM. Aimé and Mme A. Leyval. He is out of the Le Havre mare Piler Lann.

September also brought further recognition at Blacktype level. Listed winners ARMOR SUPREME and VALENTINA BELLA finished third and fourth respectively in the Prix d’Arenberg Gr.3 at ParisLongchamp, while BIG JET PLANE became ARMOR’s third Blacktype juvenile when a close second on his Stakes debut in the Prix Arqana – Critérium de l’Ouest L. at Craon.

Those performances were matched by strong demand in the sales ring. At Osarus, four ARMOR yearlings featured among the ten highest-priced lots, headed by a €55,000 filly who achieved the second-highest price of the sale. His €32,000 median and €28,500 average stood well above the overall sale figures, delivering strong returns for breeders who had supported him.

An ARMOR share sold for €21,000 to Broadhurst Agency at Aktem - more than twice its original price - with competitive bidding providing further evidence of buyers’ confidence in our stallion and the market’s growing recognition of his value.

With half of his juvenile runners now winners and three already established as Blacktype performers, ARMOR closed September with an increasingly compelling record both on the track and in the market.
