AFJAN made the perfect start to his career with a decisive success in the opening race on Prix du Jockey Club day at Chantilly, landing the €50,000 Prix d'Orgemont over 1,100 metres for two-year-olds.
Trained by Henri-François Devin and ridden by Alexis Pouchin, the Al Shaqab Racing homebred travelled smoothly in the early stages before quickening clear inside the final furlong, making a lasting impression to defeat the favorite.
Raised at Haras de Bouquetot, AFJAN is by our star sire and Tally-Ho resident MEHMAS and out of the Listed-placed Bated Breath mare Al Johrah, who herself carried the Al Shaqab colours with distinction as a juvenile when second in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.
