In 2025, MEHMAS sits atop the juvenile sire rankings both in France and across Europe, while also dominating the category of European sprint stallions. With already 13 individual 2-year-old winners to date in 2025, and a record breaking 71 juvenile scorers last year, MEHMAS boasts an impressive strike rate of 45% across all his 2-year-old crops.
On May 14th, IMPERIAL ME CEN made a striking impression when landing the Listed Prix des Rêves d’Or – Jacques Bouchara over 1,000 metres at Vichy.
Trined by H.F. Devin and carrying the colours of his owner-breeder Yeguada Centurion SLU, the colt travelled at the rear of the field before being asked to quicken by Alexis Pouchin with 250 metres to run. He responded instantly with a sharp turn of foot to score comfortably by two and a half lengths.
Meanwhile in Britain, two juveniles by MEHMAS also made winning debuts.
At Ayr, UNDERWRITER struck at the first time of asking in a maiden, trained by Archie Watson and racing in the colours of Wathnan Racing. Bred by Haras de Saint Vincent & Partners, he broke well, travelled in a handy position, and showed a professional attitude to assert readily under James Doyle.
At Haydock, MAXIMIZED followed suit. Ridden by David Probert, the Charlie Appleby-trained colt opened his account on debut in the Godolphin silks. Bred by Cheveley Park Stud, he impressed with a dominant display to shed his maiden tag in style.
