The first weekend of July brought another notable set of results for ZELZAL, headed by a new Group winner at Deauville and two further victories at Saint-Cloud on Sunday. Combined with a string of winners throughout the week, the Haras de Bouquetot stallion continues to strengthen his position at the top of the French sires' standings.
Saturday's highlight came at Deauville, where MISE EN BOITE secured the biggest success of his career in the Prix de Ris-Orangis Gr.3. Bred and raced by Haras de Saint-Voir, the Xavier Blanchet-trained four-year-old added a first Pattern victory to his record in the six-furlong contest. Out of Acclamée (Acclamation), MISE EN BOITE becomes a fifth Group winner for ZELZAL, further enhancing an already outstanding season for the son of Sea The Stars.

The same afternoon also produced two further three-year-old winners.
At Saratoga, SHELZAWA made a winning debut in a Maiden Special Weight over 8½ furlongs on turf. Bred by Marie-Laure Collet and Thierry Poirier, the daughter of Shendawa (Dr Fong) made a successful start to her American career.
Meanwhile in Spain, MACARIO added a second career victory in the Tuvalu over 1,200 metres at La Zarzuela. The colt, out of Dieulefit (Dansili), provided another international success for ZELZAL's three-year-old crop.
Sunday belonged to Saint-Cloud, where PYRAMIDE and ZELMAN completed a notable double over the straight mile.
Winner of the Handicap des Hauts-de-Seine, PYRAMIDE continued her progression with victory in the feature handicap of the afternoon. Bred by SCEA des Prairies, Ecurie de Castillon and I.E.I., the four-year-old daughter of Alhania (Medaglia d'Oro) added another valuable success to her record.
Less than an hour later, ZELMAN followed up in the Prix des Coteaux de Saint-Cloud. Trained and owned by Alain and Damien Allard, the five-year-old son of Kitkarma (Turtle Bowl) battled on gamely to record his latest victory.
The older generation also played its part, with WATHAB scoring at Tarbes and homebred GOLDEN STATE adding another victory at La Teste.
