ZELZAL continued his excellent run at the end of May with another two-year-old winner and a series of notable performances from his three-year-olds, further strengthening his position as the leading sire in France.

The latest highlight came on May 29 at Saint-Cloud, where ROSZAL became the latest juvenile winner by ZELZAL when landing the Prix Prince Chevalier over 1,200 metres. Racing for the partnership of Laghi France, Ahmed Feghouli and Dalil Hamani and trained by M. Baratti, the colt improved on an encouraging debut second at the same venue earlier this month. Bred by Haras des Sablonnets and Ecurie de Montlahuc, he is out of Rosvana (Dansili) and becomes another early-season winner for the sire's current two-year-old crop.
Among the three-year-olds, BOX OFFICER produced one of the most valuable performances of the period when taking a competitive handicap at ParisLongchamp on May 28 over 2,100 metres. Racing for Ecurie Normandy Spirit and trained by S. Wattel, the gelding was bred by Ecurie La Vallée Martigny and Ecurie Normandy Spirit out of Briante (Turtle Bowl). Already the winner of a maiden at Argentan earlier this spring, he has now accumulated more than €88,000 in earnings and owner premiums.

The previous week had been headed by BASQUIAT, who completed a remarkable hat-trick in the Prix de Laharie at Toulouse over 2,400 metres. Racing for Gousserie Racing and Leonard Ducass Agency, the P. Cottier-trained colt was bred by Sasu Mata Horse out of Forest Maiden (Invincible Spirit). His latest success lifted his rating to 40 and confirmed him as one of the most progressive staying three-year-olds by the sire this season.
Another three-year-old to enhance her profile was INGEBORG, successful at ParisLongchamp on May 21 over 1,950 metres. A homebred for Sophie Boulin Redouly and trained by J. Boisnard, the filly is out of Louisa Forever (Montmartre) and deservedly opened her account after several placed efforts.

Our Al Shaqab Racing homebred three-year-old AL GHARIYA was another daughter of ZELZAL to get off the mark on May 25. Out of Al Jassasiyah (Galileo), the H.F. Devin-trained opened her account over 2,400 metres at Wissembourg.
ZELZAL's sophomore generation also struck internationally through TACITA, who scored in Germany at Hassloch on May 16. Bred and raced by Rennstall Gestüt Hachtsee, the filly is out of Taraja (High Chaparral) and added a second career victory to her record.
The recent winners were not confined to the Classic generation. UPPERCUT, bred by S.C.E.A. des Prairies and B. Jeffroy out of Take To Win (Sunday Break), scored at Toulouse. ZELZARI added another success at Chantilly for Ikarusracing, while BELLANO, a homebred for Michael Motschmann, was successful at Saint-Cloud. Further success came from ZELMAN at La Roche-Posay.
From precocious juveniles to progressive three-year-olds and established older performers, ZELZAL continues to deliver winners across a wide variety of distances and racing programmes.
Congratulations to all breeders and connections!
