AL HAKEEM’s first foals have now arrived, and early impressions suggest that the son of Siyouni is passing on both quality and presence. Standing at Haras de Bouquetot, AL HAKEEM attracted a strong book of over 110 mares in his debut season, and the first crop already reflects the quality of mares he covered.
Among them is a filly out of the outstanding racemare Shotgun Gulch, a Group 1 winner and dam of black-type performers Watan and Rabdan. She is a homebred for Al Shaqab Racing and was born at Haras de Bouquetot.
A colt out of Kawancen, born at Haras de Fergand, combines proven European speed with a strong black-type family: Kawancen is by Iffraaj and out of the Group-placed Qawaasem.
“A colt with a very strong hindquarters, good propulsion, a well-laid shoulder, and an expressive head with plenty of quality,” said breeder Eric Lemaitre.
Another colt, born at Haras du Bois Carrouge, is out of Cacimar, a sister to the Stakes winner Native American and from the family of black-type winner Jubliant Girl.
“A handsome, athletic colt with real refinement. The mare returns to the same stallion this year,” commented breeder Florent Couturier.
Completing this early quartet is a filly out of Belle de Crecy, a Group winner and Group 1–placed mare who has already produced the black-type Bletina. She was bred by Haras de Castillon.
