Zelzal's Alam secures Prix Greffulhe Gr.3 for homebred success at Saint-Cloud

Homebred ALAM delivered a memorable success under the Al Shaqab colours today at Saint-Cloud, France, taking the Prix Greffulhe Gr.3 over 2,100 metres under Antoine Hamelin for Mikel Delzangles. Still a maiden before the race, ALAM stepped directly into Group company with the confidence of his trainer behind him, and rewarded that faith in the best possible way.

This success carries particular meaning for our breeding operation, ALAM being by our resident stallion ZELZAL, who has enjoyed a remarkable few days with four Blacktype performers to his name since this past weekend. Raised at our Normandy base Haras de Bouquetot, he is also out of KATARA (Deep Impact), another Al Shaqab Racing homebred, who carried our colours with distinction and achieved Stakes success during her own racing career.

Following this breakthrough performance, the Prix du Jockey Club Gr.1 could now come into consideration as a possible target for ALAM.
