ZELZAL continued his red-hot run with juveniles as LA MARITZA made a winning debut in the 1,400m newcomers’ race at La Teste on Wednesday, becoming his third individual 2-year-old winner in just five days.
Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget and partnered by Jean-Bernard Eyquem, the filly travelled smoothly and picked up well to get off the mark at the first attempt. She becomes the seventh individual 2-year-old winner for her sire this season, from only 16 runners — a 44% strike rate.
LA MARITZA is out of Cythere, by Camelot, and was bred by Ecurie J.L. Tepper and Free Man Racing, who also co-own her.
The same race also saw encouraging debuts the ROMANISED filly PREMIERA taking second place, as well as from another filly by ZELZAL, with BAYS OF NAPLES finishing a close fourth, from 12 runners.
Congratulations to all connections !
