Just a few days before the major showdown between his illustrious sons, Al Mourtajez is once again in the spotlight thanks to JOE STAR. A dual Group 1-PA placed performer, he has just won the Group 1-PA Alanudd Classic over 2,200 metres at Abu Dhabi with real class. This elegant Haras de Castelnerac-bred had in fact made his first steps under the care of his co-breeder Thomas Fourcy and had defeated Al Ghadeer in July 2022 at La Teste-de-Buch on debut, handing the star his one and only defeat.

A multiple Group performer himself, JOE STAR tracked the leaders closely before being angled out to launch his challenge on the turn into the home straight. He stayed on strongly in the closing stages and proved best at the end of a hard-fought finish, scoring by two and a half lengths.

On the very same day in France, HILAL broke his maiden tag at second asking, when defeating a field of 12 rivals to win the 2 000-meter Prix Benji at Pau, France on February, 8. The four-year-old son of Al Mourtajez sports the colors of his breeder, KM. Al Attiyah.

Congratulations to all connections!
