Al Shaqab Racing enjoyed a productive Saturday on both sides of the Channel, registering a transnational double with the debut success of ANKARA at Dieppe and a commanding third win for the progressive HUMAM at York.
Trained in Chantilly by Henri-François Devin, our homebred ANKARA made a perfect start to her racing career in the Prix Magazine Instant (Prix Cosmos), a 2,400m newcomers’ event contested on soft ground. The three-year-old daughter of Siyouni travelled sweetly under Alexis Pouchin before asserting in the final stages to defeat Promises Fulfilled and Anima Sana. ANKARA is the first foal out of Al Anqa, a daughter of Galileo, and was raised at Haras de Bouquetot.

Later in the afternoon, HUMAM delivered a polished front-running performance to land the Doug Johnston Memorial Ubettabelieveit Macmillan Handicap at York. The son of Kodiac, trained by Andrew Balding and ridden by Jason Watson, dictated throughout the seven-furlong contest and stayed on strongly to hold off the challenge of Yanifer by a length and a half.
Bred in Ireland by Peter and Hugh McCutcheon, HUMAM is out of Her Honour, a daughter of Shamardal. The colt is now a three-time winner and continues to thrive for the Al Shaqab Racing & Partner silks.
