Al Mourtajez continues to update his tally of winners courtesy of Athena, who scored on 2 August at Royan-La Palmyre racecourse (France). Bred by H.M. Al Ghatani and owner Haseg, the four-year-old filly opened her account over 2,300 metres, winning by two lengths on her third start. A daughter of Al Mourtajez, she is out of Ocyrrhoe, herself the winner of the Group 1 Qatar French Arabian Breeders’ Challenge at Saint-Cloud under the guidance of her current trainer, Elisabeth Bernard.
A few days earlier, Lippo de Carrère recorded another Stakes performance when finishing second in the Group 1 Qatar International Stakes at Goodwood (UK). Bred by E. C. and G. Dell’Ova, the dual Group 1-winning son of Al Mourtajez added a second consecutive top-level performance on either side of the Channel, having previously finished runner-up in The President of the UAE Cup – Coupe d’Europe des Chevaux Arabes (Gr.1-PA) at ParisLongchamp last May.
A few days earlier, Salihah rounded off the month of July with a winning debut on 31 July at Dax (France). Racing in the colours of her breeder, Yas Horse Racing, the three-year-old filly by Dahess held on all the way to the line despite the strong late challenge of Mister Ginoux’s representative Shakirah, giving our stallions a one-two finish.
Mister Ginoux turned the tables with the three-year-old Mimosa Star at Mont-de-Marsan Racecourse (France) on 29 July. Racing for his breeder, M. Benmessaoud, he successfully covered the 2,000 metres to open his winning account with a courageous victory by a short head.
Congratulations to all the respective connections.
