ZELZAL enhanced his profile once again with three new Blacktype performances, headed by a standout Classic effort, while a string of winners across France and Europe underlined the depth and consistency of his runners.

The leading performance came in Italy, where ZAMBEZI finished a strong second in the Premio Parioli Gr.3 over 1,600 metres at Milan, the Italian 2000 Guineas - marking a notable Classic performance and a sixth Blacktype result for the sire this year. Racing for Mme Anita Wigan and trained by Tim Donworth, the three-year-old, a homebred out of Mersey (Kodiac), holds a France Galop rating of 46.5.
That effort was quickly backed up at Chantilly, where MISE EN BOITE, a homebred for Haras de Saint-Voir, finished third in the Prix Servanne LR. Trained by X. Blanchet, he has now amassed over €140,000 in earnings with a FG rating of 44.5. MISE EN BOITE is out of the Acclamation mare Acclamée.
On the same card, HOUVILLE added a new individual Blacktype to ZELZAL's record when finishing third in the Prix des Lilas LR over 1,600 metres. Racing for Gérard Augustin-Normand and trained by M. Baratti, the three-year-old filly was bred by Franklin Finance S.A. out of La Houblonniere (Le Havre), continuing her progressive profile.
Among the winners, May 2 saw a double of three-year-olds at Marseille Pont de Vivaux. BASQUIAT, bred by Sasu Mata Horse out of Forest Maiden (Invincible Spirit), made it back-to-back victories over 2,600 metres for Gousserie Racing and L. Ducass Agency, trained by P. Cottier. On the same card, VALIENTE, bred by Ecurie La Vallée Martigny out of Beautiful Day (Siyouni), opened his account over 2,000 metres for Ecurie de Ginalyah.

ZELZAL had already struck on April 28 with another double at Chantilly. TANQUES, bred by Earl Haras de l’Etre out of Tareya (Dark Angel), got off the mark over 1,200 metres for Gérard Augustin-Normand and trainer E. Libaud. Later on the card, ZELZARI, bred by B. Bertin and P.Y. Juillard out of Thank You Bye Bye (Zanzibari), recorded a decisive success over 1,900 metres. Racing for Ikarusracing and trained by D. Mélé, he now holds a FG rating of 46.5 and has accumulated over €120,000 in total earnings.

ZELZAL’s influence also extended internationally on May 1, with NISHIKI KAMURO securing her eighth career victory in Germany over 1,000 metres at Leipzig. Racing for Stall C’est La Vie, she was bred by S.C.E.A. Haras de Manneville out of Simaviya (Zamindar).
Congratulations to their respective breeders and to all connections!
