CANALEJAS, a two-year-old colt by ARMOR out of MONEY ROYALE (CAPE CROSS), finished a close third in the Prix des Chênes (Gr.3), a 1,600-metre contest run on soft ground at Chantilly. Trained by R. C. Montenegro, he carried the silks of Mr. Juan Carlos Peinado Garcia, was partnered by Alexis Pouchin and bred by K. R. Al Mohannadi.
Breaking smartly, he was held up on the rail behind the leaders and showed maturity in the closing stages, keeping on well to fend off his rivals in the final metres.
