COLBERT opened his account at Bordeaux on Monday, taking the 1m4f maiden in a race that saw the son of Frankel confirm the progress anticipated from his earlier runs.

Sent forward early, the André Fabre-trained colt was always travelling comfortably near the head of affairs. He found more when asked in the straight and maintained his advantage to see off his opponents.

Ridden by Alexis Pouchin, COLBERT was making his third career start, having stepped up in trip after his previous outing over the same distance at Saint-Cloud. Bred by Ecurie des Monceaux, COLBERT is out of Secrete, a Cape Cross mare from a well-established Wertheimer family. His pedigree traces back to the Group 1 winner Plumania, while more recently the line has produced Aventure, winner of the Prix Vermeille and placed at the highest level.
