Homebred Sahlan lands Group 3 Prix Daphnis

Our homebred SAHLAN added a first Group victory to his record with a smart success in the Prix Daphnis (Gr.3) over 1,600 metres at Deauville. Already a Group performer earlier in the season when runner-up in the Prix de Fontainebleau (Gr.3) at Longchamp, the colt confirmed his class with this decisive performance.

Settled in a good position by Mickaël Barzalona, SAHLAN travelled strongly before delivering his challenge in the straight, showing determination to keep his rivals at bay and secure the victory for trainer Francis-Henri Graffard. His trainer indicated afterwards that the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr.1) in September could be next on the agenda.

Raised at Haras de Bouquetot, SAHLAN is by Wootton Bassett out of Wasmya, a daughter of Toronado, and carries the colours of Al Shaqab Racing.
