Hot streak continues for Zelzal with Stakes winner & new 2yo winner

ZELZAL is enjoying a strong run of form this summer, adding two new winners to his record on Sunday, including a new blacktype success and another promising juvenile scorer.
SHEHNA provided the Haras de Bouquetot resident with his latest Stakes victory when landing the Konrad Werner Wille-Memorial LR at Munich over 1400m. Raced by Healthy Wood Co. Ltd and trained by Satoshi Kobayashi, the four-year-old filly was guided to victory by Benjamin Marie. Bred by Mme ML. Collet, Mme M. Collet and J. Collet, SHEHNA is out of Shendama, a daughter of Dr Fong. She becomes the 17th blacktype performer for ZELZAL, the fourth in 2025 and one of ten individual Stakes winners for the stallion to date.
Earlier in the afternoon at La Teste, two-year-old BANKHOVSKI got off the mark in the Prix Century 21 Duprat & Associés over 1400m. Bred by Scuderia Micolo SNC, the colt is trained by Kevin Tavares and races for the partnership of Alain Jathière and Scuderia Micolo SNC. He is out of Dolce Attesa, a daughter of Dr Fong, and stayed on well under Fabrice Véron to repel the Juddmonte homebred North Ice.
BANKHOVSKI is the eleventh individual two-year-old winner by ZELZAL from only 26 runners this season – an outstanding 42% winners-to-runners strike-rate with his current juvenile crop.
