Limestone breaks his maiden at Listowel

LIMESTONE, a two-year-old colt by New Bay out of Modernstone (Duke of Marmalade), opened his account on Thursday at Listowel for his three co-owners: Al Shaqab Racing, Ballylinch Stud; also his breeder and Valmont, whose colours he carried on this occasion.

Trained by Joseph Patrick O’Brien and ridden by Dylan Browne McMonagle, as in his two previous placed efforts, he captured the Mac Hardware & Farm Supplies Irish EBF Rated Race, a one-mile contest run on heavy ground.

Quickly into stride, Limestone took the lead and travelled kindly throughout. Asked to lengthen turning in, he showed determination in the closing stages, finding extra when challenged and pulling clear to secure a deserved success.
