Our homebred PEARL recorded her first career success at Carlisle, making the most of her second racecourse appearance to land the mile maiden for trainer Ralph Beckett and jockey Hector Crouch.
Having shaped with considerable promise when third on debut at York last month, the four-year-old filly was sent off favourite and duly confirmed that initial impression. She travelled strongly throughout before asserting in the closing stages to score by a length and a half.
The victory adds a first success to the record of a filly whose pedigree is among the most distinguished in the Al Shaqab Racing broodmare band. PEARL is a daughter of Le Havre and the outstanding producer Puggy (Mark Of Esteem), making her a full sister to dual Classic & Gr.1 winner Avenir Certain.
Bred by Al Shaqab Racing, PEARL now follows her accomplished sibling onto the winners’ list, rewarding the promise shown on debut and adding another success for one of our operation’s most established families.
