ZELZAL got the weekend off to a flying start with SHORT FINAL, who recorded a brilliant victory in the Grosser Preis der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf (Gr.3). Run over 1,700 metres on soft ground, the race drew seven runners. The five-year-old gelding by ZELZAL out of MASSAYE (MONSUN), already a Group 3 winner at Baden-Baden earlier this year, scored in the colours of TJE Racing for trainer Stuart Williams, ridden by Marco Ghiani and bred by Écurie Adès Hazan & Mme Karine Morice.
A few hours later, WELCOME CHARLY struck for owners Joseph Gentil and Catherine Leonie. Trained by Cyril Tolaini and ridden by Michel Wendel, he landed a 2,400-metre flat race at Biguglia. The five-year-old gelding by ZELZAL out of MARMARAH (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) was bred by Éric Lemaitre and Jean-Vincent Toux.
To close out the day, BELLANO, a four-year-old colt by ZELZAL out of BERNSTEINKETTE (KANDAHAR RUN), also got his head in front with authority at ParisLongchamp, taking the eighth race on the card a 1,400-metre flat event run on very soft ground. Partnered by Mickaël Barzalona for trainer Gérald Mossé, he carried the silks of his owner-breeder, Mickaël Motschmann.
Congratulations to all the connections!
