MISTER GINOUX recorded another first-time winner with his three-year-old daughter NORSHAN, who captured the Prix de Bournazel over 1,200 metres at Pompadour, France, on June 29. Bred by E. Alhtoushi, she scored an impressive 3.5-length victory against several more experienced rivals.
AL MOURTAJEZ was also in the spotlight at Pompadour through MINEDOR DE BOZOULS, winner of the Prix Pierre Pechdo over 1,600 metres. Bred by Mezagri, he showed plenty of determination to open his account.
AYLA also enhanced AL MOURTAJEZ's record by making a winning debut on July 1 in the Prix Fatouma at La Teste-de-Buch, France. Finishing strongly, she came from off the pace to overhaul the field in the closing stages. Bred by E. Alhtoushi, she hails from the family of Group performers Guythoun de Carrère and Nehmo de Carrère, and defeated our homebred BALSAM, a daughter of MISTER GINOUX. The latter showed great courage to hold off the remainder of the field under jockey Guillaume Guedj-Gay and trainer Xavier Thomas-Demeaulte.
It completed a memorable double in the maiden races for AL MOURTAJEZ, as only moments later NPEDOR DE BOZOULS crossed the finish line first at La Teste-de-Buch. Bred by Mezagri, he still displayed signs of greeness but proved highly professional, drawing clear in mid-track to win with authority.
