ZELZAL gained a new juvenile blacktype on Saturday as ZAMBEZI finished a gallant second in the Listed Prix Haras de Bouquetot – Critérium de l’Ouest at Craon, denied only by a short head at the line.
Trained by Tim Donworth for owner-breeder Anita Wigan, ZAMBEZI made a winning debut at Vittel in July before finishing a close runner-up behind the unbeaten WOODED filly SPECIAL WOOD at Vichy last month. He confirmed his quality again in Listed company, battling on strongly over 1,650 metres against an international field.
Bred by Anita Wigan, ZAMBEZI is out of Mersey, a daughter of Kodiac, and becomes the second Blacktype in just two days for his sire, who now counts 19th individual blacktype performer including seven Stakes performers already in 2025.
Congratulations to his connections!
