Following a productive midweek with two smart juvenile performances, ZELZAL continued his momentum over the weekend and into the new week with two more individual winners from his current crop of two-year-olds.
At Lyon-Parilly on Saturday, CARO BUONO opened his account at the third time of asking when landing the Prix des Roses over 1,200 metres. Trained by Frédéric Guyader, the colt had shown promise on his first two starts and took another step forward to win decisively under Clément Lecoeuvre for the partnership of Mark Tronco, Steven Collins and Stephen Swift. Bred by Scuderia Micolo SNC, CARO BUONO is out of Cherie Good, a daughter of Big Bad Bob.
Today at Angers, ZELZARA became the third juvenile winner of the season for her sire when landing the Prix de Puycharic over 1,200 metres. Trained by Yann Barberot, the filly was making her second start and showed good improvement to get off the mark for owners Mme Julie Mestrallet, Mme Peggy Blondel, Mme Marine Estrade, Mr Pierre-Jean Albigot and Mr Tony Loiseau. She was bred by the Indivision N. Zarakiysha 2023 out of Zarakiysha, a daughter of Kendor.
In addition to his juvenile results, ZELZAL was also represented by a progressive three-year-old over the weekend, as LAITH secured his third victory of the year at Dax on Sunday in the Prix de l’Hôtel de Chievres over 1,400 metres. Trained by Jérôme Reynier for Sangwin Holdings Ltd, the colt was bred by Al Shaqab Racing out of the Olympic Glory mare Lucky Lycra and is enjoying a fruitful campaign, having now won his last two starts.
Congratulations to all connections and to the breeders of each of these ZELZAL progeny!
