2 Group winners in 2 days for Toronado

Stellar TORONADO recorded no less than two Group victories in two different countries in as many days, starting down-under with MASKED CRUSADER who added a third Group success to his name when capturing the 1,100 meters G3 The Heath 1100 Stakes on August, 28 at Caulfield, Australia with a devastating last turn-of-foot. The following day at Goodwood in the UK, homebred TORO STRIKE demonstrated a striking acceleration to score the highly deserved G3 Supreme Stakes in record time. TORONADO’s seventh Group winner in 3 generations of runners could now be targeting the G1 Prix de La Forêt next. Entrusted to Richard Fahey, he is a son of G1-placed SCARLET STRIKE and was ridden by Ryan Moore. On the very same day, Miss G. Abbey-bred GODDESS OF FIRE was a 6-times winner at Yarmouth, UK and HAS THE LOOK was seen in the winner’s enclosure in Australia at Devonport Synthetic.


Freshman sire ECTOT celebrated two winners in as many days, starting the week with the success of E. Lemaitre-bred HEWILLGET IN in a 1,400 meters handicap race at Clairefontaine racecourse, France on August, 23. Aged two and bred by Scuderia Micolo Snc., BLUECTOT broke his maiden tag by 5 splendid lengths on August, 25 at Dax, France on his second attempt only, becoming ECTOT’s third individual first cop winner.


SHALAA’s three-year-olds impressed on the other side of the planet, with a serie of Australia successes. VETEROK opened his winning account at second asking at Racing.com Park Syn on August, 27, while FLOWER MOON was a first time winner at Goulburn on August, 28. SHAJAEA was the third scorer in as many days when defeating his 11 rivals at Sunshine Coast on August, 29.


Tally-Ho Stud-based MEHMAS had an exciting week with his juveniles, starting with unbeaten HIERARCHY landing his second consecutive victory on August, 24 at Salisbury, UK for breeders Mountain View Stud and Tally-Ho Stud. Kevin Fox-bred MAKALU followed the lead when scoring his second consecutive success at Carlisle, UK on August, 26 while FORM OF PRAISE broke her maiden tag at Hamilton, UK the following day for breeder Tiger Bloodstock. Smart TRUST BERTIE was the last of the serie when making a winning start at Redcar, UK on August, 28 to take a Novice Stakes for breeder Patrick Monahan. Three-year-old BLISSFUL SONG joined the dance when collecting a second success for Hyde Park Stud in a handicap race at Catterick, UK on August, 25.


One of the best values in France and in Europe, Haras de Bouquetot-based OLYMPIC GLORY followed up last week’s success of GRAND GLORY in the G1 Prix Jean Romanet by a serie new international winners. Two-year-old DASHING TO YOU opened his winning account on August, 23 at Brighton, UK for breeders Lofts Hall Stud and Yarraman Park, while five-year-olds GOLD CHORUS and OLYMPIC HONOUR both crossed the finish line first on August, 26, respectively at Mackay, Australia and at Ffos-Las, UK for breeder EARL Haras des Loges.
