4 Stakes performances in a week

Tally-Ho Stud-based MEHMAS celebrated two Group victories in the space of two days, including a strong Classic prospect courtesy of three-year-old MALAVATH. G2 Critérium de Maisons-Laffitte winner and G1 Breeders’Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf strong runner-up at two, she made a winning seasonal comeback when landing easily the G3 Prix Imprudence on April, 7 at Deauville. Fetching among the best fillies of her generation, the Tally-Ho Stud bred filly could either target the G1 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket, UK or the G1 Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches at ParisLongchamp, France. Second Group victory was credited to GOING GLOBAL, already crowned as the second G1 winner of her sire and now scorer of the G2 Royal Heroine Stakes on April, 9 at Santa Anita, USA, his fifth Group success.

Additional international scorers of the week for MEHMAS included three-year-olds BARLEY and HILARY DE L’ALGUER, with respectively a maiden tag broken for the Norman Orminston-bred on April, 6 at Nottingham, UK and a success on April, 8 over the 1,600 meters of Chilivani racecourse, Italy. Four-year-old MASSAMAN joined the dance with a third win offered to Killarkin Stud on April, 7 at Gowran Park, Ireland.


Group 1 winner GRAND GLORY made a winning seasonal comeback on April, 10 when defeating a quality field to capture the Listed Prix Zarkava at ParisLongchamp. The ever-consistent 6-year-old daughter of OLYMPIC GLORY is aimed to G1 races this season again, with a next entry in the G3 Prix Allez France Longines on May, 1st at ParisLongchamp.


Winner of the G3 Florida Oaks a month ago, Nicola Galli-bred DOLCE ZEL continued her Stakes conquest for her stallion ZELZAL by finishing strong runner-up in the G3 Appalachian Stakes on April, 9 at Keeneland, USA, only finding one of the best American filly SPENDARELLA too good.


Haras de Bouquetot-based AL WUKAIR congratulated his fifth individual winner of the season when Haras de Saint-Julien-bred SWEETHEART broke her maiden at Deauville, France on April, 7 under the 7 furlongs straight line.


Haras de Bouquetot-based TORONADO had a collection of international scorers, starting with the victory of four-year-old STAR BRITE in a 1,650 meters handicap race at Happy Valley, Hong-Kong on April, 6. Down-under on the very same day, UNIQUELY added a new victory to her tally when defeating her 12 rivals at Sandown and BURN ONE DOWN landed a 2,150 meters handicap race at Ascot a few minutes later. Last on the list was three-year-old SCISSOR STEP who landed the 1,100 meters handicap race at Caulfied racecourse on April, 9.


Tally-Ho Stud-based GALILEO GOLD counted on the victories of three-year-olds GOLDEN GAAL and IL GRANDE BLACK, both winners on April, 6 respectively at Catterick, UK on seasonal comeback for breeder Tally-Ho Stud and at Milano, Italy.
