Stakes performances & Al Wukair off the mark

Account beautifully opened for our ‘Marois’ winning sire AL WUKAIR with two-year-old CURARO LIGHT having the honor of being the first scorer. The Marie-Laure Collet and Bernard Jeffroy-bred broke her maiden over the 1,200 meters of Toulouse, France on May, 26 at second asking. She was swiftly followed by our homebred AL WAKRAH who lost her maiden tag at Châteaubriant, France on May, 29 on her second start only. Bred at Haras de Bouquetot and out of the Dubawi Group winning mare Al Thakira, she is entrusted to Simone Brogi and fetches as the second winner of AL WUKAIR from 5 runners to date.

Freshman sire ZELZAL also celebrated a second victory courtesy of unbeaten BLUSHING, the two-year-old filly bred by A. Milovanov following her winning debuts by a bossy success over the 1,200 meters of Angers, France on May, 28.

While our freshman sires were celebrating their first heroines, it was an exciting first Stakes victories for both MSHAWISH and GALILEO GOLD. From his headquarters in the USA at Taylor Made, MSHAWISH had his first winner in Graded Stakes company with SAINTHOOD back to his best after his KY Derby run to land the G2 Pennine Ridge Stakes at Belmont Park on May, 29.

It was also a first Stakes victory for first-season GALILEO GOLD proudly celebrated under our colors with EBRO RIVER producing a smart effort to capture by 3 and ¼ lengths the Listed National Stakes at Sandown, UK on May, 27 on his third start only. Our powerful two-year-old ridden by James Doyle is entrusted to Hugo Palmer, just like his Classic-winning sire was before him. Tally-Ho Stud-based GALILEO GOLD also had a new first-crop success with Padraig Williams-bred OSCULA breaking easily her maiden at Brighton, UK on May, 24 on her second attempt only.

Also based at Tally-Ho Stud, MEHMAS continues to be well in the lead and increased his stellar numbers with a couple of new international winners this week. Old Carthue Stud-bred QUEENS CARRIAGE collected a third consecutive victory at Fairyhouse, Ireland on May, 28 while a few minutes later, three-year-old VENERE ROKEBY was seen in the winners’ enclosure at Roma, Italy. Third musketeer of the week was two-year-old BICEP who brilliantly opened his winning account at first asking on May, 25 at Lingfield, UK for breeder R. Roberts.

Haras de Bouquetot-based OLYMPIC GLORY ended the week in style with his three-year-olds. Mrs Y. Seydoux de Clausonne-bred HOLYMPICA was the first to open the score on May, 28 over the 1,900 meters of La Teste-de-Buch, France while Hubert Honoré-bred NOWENDOC was defeating his 15 rivals in a handicap at ParisLongchamp, France on May, 30 to call a second success to his name. It was no less than 3 international winners counted on May, 29 for OLYMPIC GLORY with LAURIE breaking her maiden tag at Toowoomba, Australia, OLD TOWN ROAD capturing his fourth win since last March at Tambo, Australia and Mrs. JL GIRAL-bred OLYPA crossing the finish line first at Nîmes, France.

TORONADO had a new collection of international victories this week, starting with LACIREDESKI at Koln, Germany on May, 24. FBK Al Thani-bred BAYLAGAN was a sixth time victor in a handicap at Compiègne, France on May, 25 while a few minutes later, Littleton Stud-bred ROCKET DANCER was getting the best over his rivals at Newcastle, UK. It was also a double of winners on May, 27 for our Haras de Bouquetot-based stallion, with BRING ONE HOME living up to her name to break her maiden tag at Northam, Australia while DROIT DE PAROLE was offering a second consecutive victory to her breeders Team Hogdala in a 1,600 meters handicap at Lyon-Parilly, France.

PIZZO FALCONE beautifully ended the week for TORONADO with a success over the 1,500 meters of Merano, Italy.

Second beautiful Stakes performance of the week under our colors was credited to DUHAIL who followed up his victory in the G2 Prix du Muguet by a strong second place in the G3 Prix du Palais-Royal on May, 30 at ParisLongchamp, France under the ride of Vincent Cheminaud. In the care of André Fabre, our powerful five-year-old will now be targeting the G1 Qatar Sussex Stakes overseas.

Congratulations to all connections!
